Testimonial:
I determined the goal of Teradyme one night in September '08 after having received my first taste of Nashville underground music, which I had heard on 91.1 WRVU, Vanderbilt University's student operated radio station, as I was driving home from work, late one evening.
The song was called "Jackie", and was written by a local group of musician/dj's named "Jensen Sportag". Justin Kase of WRVU played it, and as soon as I heard it, I was struck. It was one of the most incredible songs I think I had and maybe have ever heard. It's a clever upbeat danceable piano/percussion/guitar/effects/loops masterpiece, and completely identifies, I feel, with the current musical attitude in Nashville at present. More can be read about them in their artists profile in the menu.
Justin announced that there would be a Jensen Sportag show at Aerial, Nashville, a rooftop, open-air club with about an 9th story view of Broadway from 1st to 8th street. These shows happened only once a month, and this month, JS was chosen. I was hooked already, having heard this one fantastic track, and while I got ready for the show, I let their Myspace music player run. All 6 of the tracks were and still are quite impressive, as they shall always remain. These guys make 99% timeless, real dance music in-disguise, that has meaning, lyrical flow and persuasion, rich, intricate and overlaid guitar passages and a sensibility that leaves out little to nothing.
I realized that WRVU was so profoundly valuable as a resource for finding genuine music, that exhaustive coverage of the music played on the station was needed.
It is simply too difficult for people to sift through the WRVU archives sampling bands and music they find listed, for whatever criteria they may find appropriate.
I took it upon myself then to search out these bands, in the clubs, online, and organize, to the best of my ability, a showcase for the brilliant emerging bands I discovered. All of the material I created in 2009 has not been edited and prepared for publishing, though the online library grows larger day-by-day. Look for more Teradyme media in the menu.
I can only do so much, but eventually I hope to garner the support and help of dedicated and industrious fans like myself, to help carry out the task I have set, to encapsulate and make more accessible, the musical enigma that is Nashville, Tennessee, and the finest radio station in the western hemisphere, 91.1 FM WRVU.
Update: March 2010;
I recently moved to Los Angeles, California, and intend fully, to make it the next Teradyme city, and hopefully, to uncover the best of it, as I did in Nashville.
I also happen to be a guitarist, singer, songwriter, and it may need to be said that the music I love is music that musicians love. This site is about that music and enriching the lives of as many people as I can reach, as mine was enriched, by this music.
